PM Narendra Modi to commission submarine INS Kalvari tomorrow in Mumbai

INS Kalvari is viewed as an extremely lofty procurement. The submarine is assigned as MDL Yard 11875 and its development started at MDL on December 14, 2006.

The 'Boot Together' of the submarine, wherein the five separate areas were welded into one, was finished on July 30 2014. Strikingly it is the main Indian Naval vessel to be fabricated utilizing this secluded approach of development.

Kalvari was pulled out on Pontoon from the East Yard Dry Dock of MDL within the sight of the then Defense Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar on April 6, 2015.

The submarine was 'propelled' and dedicated as 'Kalvari' on October 27, 2015 by Ritu Shrawat, spouse of then CMD, MDL, R Adm RK Shrawat (retd).

Kalvari was first put into ocean on May 1, 2016. The submarine was conveyed to the Indian Navy by MDL on September 21, 2017.

Kalvari is fit for undertaking hostile operations spreading over the whole range of Maritime Warfare. It typifies front line innovation. It has a general length of 67.5 meters and a tallness of around 12.3 meters.

Kalvari's undersea fighting capacity incorporates an accumulation of cutting edge weapons and sensors which are coordinated into the Submarine Tactical Integrated Combat System (SUBTICS)
